I've been purchasing Boopino posters to support Emma and her cause, I thought I might colour them but hadn't even got around to opening 3 of them when I thought I could use Emma and Boopino's story in the Year 7 & 8 that I'm working in. I talked with the students about Emma's background as an illustrator and then being self employed and a mother of twins and how life got to be so busy. During the COVID Level 4 lockdown she came to the realisation that she was not spending as much time with her children and on her passion as she could. I showed them the process of the playroom feature wall from the first little drawing to the completed wall. As we went through the photos my students got more and more excited. Then I talked to them about how feedback from her work got her thinking about how she could raise a little money to support a charity that is close to her heart. We talked about ECPAT and other ethical dilemmas and issues going on in the world. I then gave the students the opportunity to create their own Boopino style pictures on A3 paper. While they were working they came up with the idea to put their pictures together in a book and sell it to the families of the younger students to raise money for charities close to their hearts these included Breast Cancer, Suicide Awareness and Rape Crisis.
